I’ve just realised that it’s been nearly 6 months since my last post. There I was, raring to go with building a Linux install from scratch, and obstacle after obstacle got in the way. The end result was me just dumping everything in the too hard basket, and dealing with other things that needed attention.

Now it’s six months later, and I have the urge to actually do stuff and document it, so it’s time to bolt on the electric leads and wait for the next stormy night to resurrect this blog from the dead. I may yet get a chance to build that Linux install from scratch and document my descent into madness as I do it. In the mean time, I’ll be easing back into things with a few smaller, lighter projects.

First up is going to be my camera control laptop that I’ll be using to capture images for astro-photography. I’d love to say I’ll be setting up a fully computer controlled telescope with all the bells and whistles, but for the time being I’ll be satisfied with being able to point my camera at the sky and getting the computer to handle capturing images. This is actually a nifty little project that anyone with a spare PC and half way decent digital SLR camera can do, and I’ll be documenting my process over the next few weeks.
